Castle Morpeth was a local government district and borough in Northumberland, England. Its administrative centre was the town of Morpeth.
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 by the merger of the borough of Morpeth and Morpeth Rural District, along with part of Castle Ward Rural District.
The district council was abolished as part of the 2009 structural changes to local government in England effective from April 1, 2009 with responsibilities being transferred to Northumberland County Council, a unitary authority.

Castle Morpeth is located along the vital East Coast Main Line rail artery stretching from London to Edinburgh. The rail line offers services to other major intermediate cities such as Newcastle and Peterborough.

Irene Brumwell has become the last Mayor of Castle Morpeth Borough Council. This is because in 2009 a new Northumberland Unitary Authority will be formed. However in 2007 councillors confirmed that they are in talks with Morpeth Town Council to transfer the Mayoral Role to the Town Council in 2009
