[edit] Admission to the Collegio

The admission exams for Bachelor's degrees take place every September. The written part starts with a 60-question, multiple-choice test, aimed to test the candidate's general culture and reasoning ability: if the score is satisfactory, a second part follows, involving the composition of short essays regarding science, humanities and economy, and the translation of an English text into Italian. Average marks of 7/10 or more in the written tests are required in order to proceed to the oral examination, in which a judging committee further tests the candidates' knowledge, critical sense and motivation. Candidates eligible for the Collegio are those who score a mark of 8/10 or more in this part: among them, only up to 24 are granted admission.

[edit] Progression to the second year

In order to be granted admission to the following academic year in the Collegio, the candidate is required to pass all the university exams on schedule with an average grade of 28/30 or more. It is also required for the candidate to attend four out of six internal courses organised by the Collegio itself every year; these extra exams must be passed with a minimum grade of 27/30.

[edit] Rights of the Collegio students

The Collegio Superiore students are granted free residence at the Residenza di Studi Superiori in Bologna until completion of their studies; they are allowed to attend university without paying local and state taxes; they are also granted an extra allowance and the right to undergo all the cultural initiatives organised by the Collegio. Upon graduation from the collegio, students are given a diploma testifying their participation in the Collegio's activities and the cultural life.
