[edit] History
In 1990 Connah's Quay became founder members of the Cymru Alliance positioning them for admission to the League of Wales on its formation in 1992. Nomads reached the semi final of the Welsh Cup in 1993 but lost 1-2 to Rhyl on aggregate. They went one better in 1998, going to extra time but the Nomads lost out to Bangor City after leading for a long spell.
The Nomads left their long-time home at the Halfway House in 1997 - a ground that hosted football as far back as the 19th century - for a new ground at Deeside College.
Connah's Quay Nomads appointed Jim Hackett in 2007 as the clubs new manager after the shock departure of Neville Powell to Bangor City.
At the end of season 2007-2008 Jim Hackett left position of manager by mutual consent along with other members of the coaching staff after discussion with chairman. The managers position was offed to then assistant manager Andy Lee, Ken Price and Tommy Baker who were informed to apply for the job internally. The current manager is Steve O'Shaughnessy who came to Gap Connah's Quay in the summer.
The new club (gap Connah's Quay FC) entered into discussions with neighbouring Flint Town United FC in April 2009 with a view to a merger of the clubs and a move out of Connah's Quay to Flint's Cae Y Castell ground.
