[edit] Titular Emperors (pretenders to the throne, House or Habsburg-Lorraine)
Constantly referred to the house Iturbide as heirs of the house of Habsburg in Mexico this is not true, it is impossible to analyze the history of European royal houses of the fact that none of them (even the Spanish on the laws of the empire were guided) not recognize the right of adoption for any title of nobility even, let alone an empire. So it seems very difficult to maintain the claim as heirs of Maximilian, whether it is true that that the imperial couple and it was recognized that the decree of Maximilian that the adopted child, Augustine, would be called "His Highness Prince Iturbide" without the prefix "His Imperial Highness, Prince Imperial of Mexico "according to the degree that the provisional status of the rule would be the" courtesy title "for the heir (1), not being right for the Prince Iturbide succession of rule by not having de facto" blood real. "This document is based on a recent conversation with the ambassador of the Emperor Alfonso Dano, when questions about" the annoying impression produced by the adoption of the grandson of the hero of Iguala, "Maximilian I explain the true situation, a simple "charade" to hasten the decision of his brother, Archduke Charles Louis, who then had two sons Franz Ferdinand and Otón Francis, newborn (2) Maximiliano said literally that if children were in Charlotte with "my intention is to appoint heir to one of the sons of my younger brother Carlos (3) The apparent reason for this was lack of Archduke Charles was left in trust for the emperor to one of his children in another document confess the real reasons for Maximilian in a telegram to the French ambassador said that Maximilian literally "in front of Count Thun (then Austrian envoy in Mexico) he pretended to want a lot of the small Iturbide to write to my brother that I would regard this small and if I do not have children finally decided to send one of their children "(4) The right of Iturbide is diluted more as a long lost Mexican nationality, the fact is that the head of the house is now an Australian citizen (for what jura de facto alliance with Queen Elizabeth II of United Kingdom and other countries of the Commonwealth, a foreign sovereign and Protestant) and the fact that for three generations have lived on Australian soil and have not even visited Mexico for generations which makes his right to succession of the Second Empire little less than impossible, but this does not preclude the heirs of the first emperor as Agustín I, a fact which is separate to any great European family Iturbide has recognized some time as the successor of Maximilian. There have been rumors recently about the paternity of the Emperor Maximilian and his wife Carlota while but this has still not found the second Empire claim seems to rule legally extinct.
