• Guoyu (traditional Chinese: 國語; simplified Chinese: 国语; pinyin: Guóyǔ; Wade-Giles: Kuo-yü), literally "nation/country-language" can refer to Standard Mandarin, the standardized spoken Chinese language. The term remains in common use in Taiwan and Hong Kong, see Taiwanese Mandarin. The term Putonghua - 普通话/普通話 Pǔtōnghuà is becoming more popular in Hong Kong, as the Standard Mandarin in mainland China.
• The Xianbei language during the Northern Wei Dynasty before its sinicization, Khitan during the Liao Dynasty, Jurchen during the Jin Dynasty, Mongolian during the Yuan Dynasty and Manchu during the Qing Dynasty in its earlier period.
