Karkkila (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈkɑrkːilɑ]; Swedish: Högfors) is a town and a municipality of Finland.
It is located in the province of Southern Finland and is part of the Uusimaa region. The municipality has a population of 9,117 (31 March 2009)[2] and the municipality covers an area of 255.32 square kilometres (98.58 sq mi) of which 12.96 square kilometres (5.00 sq mi) is inland water (2009-01-01).[1] The population density is 38 inhabitants per square kilometre (98 /sq mi) (31 March 2009).
The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
Famous Finnish curler Markku Uusipaavalniemi comes from Karkkila.
