Nigel Doughty, born in 1957, is the chairman and co-founder of Doughty Hanson & Co, a European private equity firm headquartered in London and with offices throughout Europe.

Doughty Hanson & Co traces its history back to 1985 when Nigel Doughty and Richard Hanson began working together on European buyout investments.

Doughty Hanson invests in private equity, real estate and technology ventures and has made more than 100 investments with a total value in excess of €23 billion.

Nigel Doughty is the owner and chairman of Nottingham Forest F.C., and is a long standing fan of the club, having watched his first game whilst a child. The club was promoted to The Championship in 2008.

He is a strong believer in responsible business and made a personal donation in 2006 to establish the Doughty Centre for Corporate Responsibility, a world-leading Centre at the Cranfield School of Management. Nigel completed his Cranfield MBA in 1984 and became a Distinguished Alumnus of the Cranfield School of Management in 2004.

Nigel was born in Newark, a town a few miles away from Nottingham. He went to school in Nottinghamshire, and still spends his weekends in the county.

In recent years, he has been a regular donor to the Labour Party.
