[edit] Where do images end up?
So where do submitted images show up? In other words, how do we, article editors, learn that Jane Schmoe has sent in her photo, and that we should feel free to use it in our articles on Jane Schmoe, Schmoe Family, and World's Most Famous TV Series Starring Jane Schmoe? --AnonEMouse (squeak) 19:56, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- An OTRS volunteer will upload it to commons and then add it to the article. Raul654 (talk) 21:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Why is this protected?
Grr. Someone else can fix up the bodgy grammar ("I...is") then. Stevage 00:40, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Interwiki
{{editprotected}} Could somebody add an interwiki link to [[no:Wikipedia:Få bildet ditt på Wikipedia]]? Kjetil r (talk) 07:51, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Shortcut WP:YOURPHOTO
{{editprotected}}
I set up a shortcut, can someone add something about going to Wikipedia and typing WP:YOURPHOTO into the search to get here. That's more memorable than a sub-page - or an email address. --Brian McNeil /talk 09:36, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Change introduction sentence
I believe the introductory sentence "I, or someone I represent, am the subject of an article in Wikipedia. I wish to submit photos of this person for use on Wikipedia and its sister projects." is unduly narrow - true, this was the original intention but is there any reason why we cannot change this to sth along the lines of "I would like to submit a picture, of which I own the copyright, to Wikipedia without registering and uploading it myself"? [crossposting this to otrs-en-l for comments] --Mbimmler (talk) 14:54, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'm for expanding the scope of the photo submissions queue, if (and only if):
- Measures are taken to prevent people from submitting pictures of everyday objects for which we already have many pictures
- Measures are taken to prevent people from submitting pictures of people/things for which we do not have an article (this is already somewhat of a problem). Photosubmissions is not an venue for requesting that we write an article on something.
- A ready supply of people willing and able to tend the queue can be found. Photosubmissions is an extremely time-consuming queue to work. It requires a delicate, competent touch that I feel is lacking from other OTRS queues. [The fact that I consistently forward emails to the info-en queue only to get a form reply from someone who doesn't (a) recognize my RL name, (b) notice the FW in the subject line, or (c) read the forwarded email attachment - this doesn't exactly imbue me with confidence in the ability of the photosubmissions queue to scale.] You need to be pedantic about copyright without frustrating potential submitters.
- The short, easy-to-understand structure of this page is preserved.
- I'd also like to find a way for people to submit music (for extant articles lacking music). However, until and unless a solution to these problems can be found, I do not support expanding the scope of this. Raul654 (talk) 15:36, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Interwiki de
Hi, please correct the interwiki to the german language wikipedia to w:de:Wikipedia:Kontakt/Bilderspende (source: [[de:Wikipedia:Kontakt/Bilderspende]]). Thx, --Martin H. (talk) 13:46, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Commons
Should not we also mention on this page that if the owner of an image wants it to show up on Wikipedia, he can also submit it via Wiki Commons? That is,
- Upload it to Wiki Commons (which of would require him to register there)
- Mention this photo - with its Commons URL - on the "discussion page" of the article where he thinks it should go,
Someone is bound to notice it there. Vmenkov (talk) 02:23, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- No, we will not mention that if people want to upload images, they can do it themselves. The purpose of this page is explicitly for people who do not want to do it themselves. The people who handle uploading the images (that is, primarily, myself and Howcheng) put all of the submitted photos on commons except a very few that are submitted and not realistically eligible for a free license (trademarked images, in particular) Raul654 (talk) 02:45, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Please add PL interwiki

[edit] Change suggested
"We recommend using the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license."
Why do we not change this to "We recommend using the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license, or, if you are willing to release all rights, provide it as public domain."
PD is a lot less hassle for re-use, and for Wikimedia, an even higher standard to aspire to than CC licenses. It is acceptzed that many people will not release images in this way, but we should still promote the option. Ingolfson (talk) 08:52, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Ca interwiki
